Abstract

he fungal growth and sporulation pattern of Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillusniger, Curularia lunate, Colletotrichum falcatum, Fusarium oxysporum, Macrophomina phascolina, Penicillium citrimum, Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotium rotfsii grown on four different culture media viz., Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA), Czapek’s Dox media, Glucose Nitrate Agar (GNA) and Malt Extract Agar were observed after seven days of incubation at 24±2°C. The colony diameter, culture characteristics and sporulation of ten different fungi
were very much influenced by the type of growth medium used. PDA medium exhibited comparatively higher mycelial growth of fungi,
followed by Czapek’s Dox media and Glucose Nitrate Agar medium. With consider to sporulation, first-rate sporulation was observed on Potato Dextrose Agar medium. Underprivileged sporulation was observed on malt extract agar. Observed experimental data will be helpful for different fungal studies.
